The Annapolis mother of a son who was addicted to opioids has written a book entitled “Secret no More” about how the struggle impacted her entire family.

Lisa Hillman says she was first alerted to the problem by a high-school teacher who said her son Jacob “was hanging out with the wrong crowd.”

Hillman said: “Alcohol, high school, beer, wine – I’m thinking, ‘That’s normal; all kids do that.'”

Hillman then received a phone call during her son’s senior week trip to a North Carolina beach informing her that Jacob had been arrested for possession of drugs.
