Lisa Hillman is the ultimate Annapolitan.
Until recently, she was the senior vice president and chief development officer of Anne Arundel Medical Center, responsible for planning and running multiple fund-raising campaigns for the hospital that raised millions of dollars. She is currently a board member of Pathways and Samaritan House in Anne Arundel County.
A former broadcast journalist, she is married to Richard Hillman, mayor of Annapolis from 1981 to 1985 and, now, retired from his government and legal careers, and dressed in 18th-century garb, is a popular walking tour guide.
The two are parents of Heidi, now 43, and Jake, 28. They live in a historic home just steps away from the State House.
An outsider might conclude the Hillmans had it all.
Except they didn’t.
